Beyond Music (Music without border)
在一个星期天的早上，我像往日一样步入南堂的大门，参与上午十点的英文弥撒，似乎没感觉到有什么不同，一样的进堂咏，一样美妙的歌声伴随神父走进圣殿，一样得祷文和光荣颂，直到第一段读经结束，答唱咏的音乐响了起来，我不由得转身寻觅声音的来处，那……是吉他声！
On one of the Sunday morning, I entered the gate of south cathedral as usual, to attend the ten o’clock English Mass, there seems to be no difference as before, the same entrance song, same beautiful voice accompanies the priest coming into the holy church, the same prayer and Glory be, after the first reading, the psalm music started, I couldn’t help to turn back to find out where’s the music come from, it’s…guitar’s sound!
一个年轻人正站在话筒前面弹琴，音乐声仿佛直接把我的心打动，愿意走向天主的台前朝拜，再仔细听，他的歌声又是那样纯净，那样有磁性……那一台弥撒是我记忆深刻，因为那特别的答唱咏……
A young man was standing before the Microphone playing his guitar, the music seems to be so penetrating into my heart, I would love to come closer to God to worship him in this music, later I listened more carefully, his voice is so pure, so attractive…that Mass was especially impressive to me, because of the special Psalm.
后来我回到了久违的英文唱诗班，有幸认识了这个帅气的年轻人，他叫Malcolm,来自新加坡，从小就开始学习钢琴和唱歌，后来学会了吉他，那些美丽的答唱咏全部是他自己谱曲完成的作品，有各种各样的风格，有的以钢琴伴奏——悠扬美丽，有的用管风琴显示高贵，有的以吉他带动活泼的气氛，真是太棒了！而且他的作品和英文唱诗班的其它以管风琴伴奏为主的古典音乐气氛极为融洽，给南堂的音乐注入了新鲜的活力，我们都很感激他的贡献。
Later I came back to the long time no attended English Choir, I had the honour to know this young man, his name is Malcolm, from Singapore, when he’s young, he started to learn piano and singing already, later he learned guitar, those wonderful psalms music are all composed by him. There’re many styles, some accompanied by piano, very gentle and soft, some with organ--- royalty and faithful, some with guitar—so lively, that’s so great! And his music fits with the other traditional songs sung by English choir which mainly accompanied by organ, the atmosphere is so harmonious, gave a lot of freshness to the south cathedral music ministry, we’re all thanking him for his efforts.
此后不久，英文唱诗班决定出版一张十周年纪念CD，其中有20首我们英文唱诗班的拿手古典曲目，还收录了5首Malcolm的答唱咏，所有音乐由管风琴，钢琴，吉他，爵士钢琴曲调伴奏，内容极为丰富；经过长时间的排练，和成员们不断的努力之后，我们的CD终于完成了，其反响惊人，所有听过这张牒的人都真正为之感动，我们成功了，在发布音乐会上我们尽情高歌，把我们的音乐传到每位教友心中，无论是古典还是现代的音乐都得到了相当高的好评，我们成功了！下一步我们还要在继续努力，录制更多更好的CD给教友们欣赏。
Later, English Choir decided to publish a CD for our 10years old anniversary, there are20 traditional songs, and also 5 Psalms by Malcolm, all the music in the CD were in organ, piano, guitar, Jazz piano style music, the style is quite rich; after long time rehearsal and with the great efforts of each and everyone member in the choir, this CD was finished at last, the feedback is quite surprising, all the people listened to the music are quite touched by the music. We won! We sung happily in the concert to celebrate our CD’s publish, to give the music into every believer’s heart, no matter they style is modern or classic were all praised by them, the next step, we’ll work harder to make more beautiful songs and CDs for believers to listen.
现在，很多年轻教友和教外人士告诉我，他们更喜欢来南堂的英文弥撒了，这里的气氛更加活泼，更加吸引人，还有很多年轻希望被介绍给Malcolm先生，或者加入我们的英文唱诗班学歌，我们的队伍一天天壮大起来了，我们英文唱诗班本身也有引进了一些更加活泼曲风的音乐来带动弥撒的气氛和教友的积极性，参与英文弥撒的年轻人越来越多了，大家带走的是更多的欢乐，留下的是更多地赞美，这对我们英文唱诗班来说真的是很宝贵的礼物。我们这改变与Malcolm先生的帮助十分不开的，在这里我代表英文唱诗班对Malcolm说，谢谢，辛苦了！
Now, many young believers or non-believers told me, they would like to come to our church more often, the atmosphere here is more lively and more attractive, many young people would like to be introduced to Mr. Malcolm, or join in our choir to learn our songs, our team is growing bigger and bigger, our English Choir itself is singing more lively songs now to drive the Mass’ atmosphere more lively, and to bring young catholic more enthusiasm, there are more young people in the choir, people are taking more happiness, leaving more praise to us, this to our choir is quite a precious present. Our great change is due to the help of Mr. Malcolm, I represent the whole of English choir to say to Malcolm: thank you very much for your effort! (Xie4 xie4, Xin1 Ku3 Le)
